Here are the original link, diff

In this This programme we are going to be talk talking about coffee.

Coffee, there is I have actually get one here in front of me, Rob.

All right, whet kind of coffee are you drinking.

It is a skinny latte. And what is that you have got ? what is yours ?

Well, I've gone for a flat wine today. Mmm, Lattie is that tastes good.

looks good too. The market for the world's most popular drinking has come a long wave since the day s of instant coffee. When we just added boiling water to some brown powder.

Yes, that is right  very true, Neil. After that came the giant like Starkbucks and Costa costs the coffee who makede the coffee drinking trendy and a lifestyle statement. People are far more away  aware of  have what they are  drinking this today these days.

But Robert, I don't think we should forget what life lies behind the coffee we enjoy everyday. It is a hugely and complicated business.

Yes, it is the second biggest commodity in the world after oil. That means the price of coffee is changing every day. Every hour, even, as traders as speculate about the price.

And it means farmers more in a countries like Ethiopia, Costa Rico, and Brazil are independent on of the deals they have that are  made in commodity markets thousands of miles from their farmers, it makes us them extremely vulnerable.

Let's listen to food general journalist Shiela Dillon as she list chief XXXX, who is explainings the impact of coffee markets on local grows. She uses an express that means has a big affect, can you tell me what it is?

What happens to coffee markets next makes waves around the globale. Entire national economy depend on the price of coffee. It is a the key to whether the individual farmers can provide to for their families, face unemployment and ultimately whether whole the communityies stay on the ground land or tracks treks to the cities.

She saysid makes waves. it That means has a big effects.

She also used a the expression, provide for the their families This means the farmer's family have nothing enough income to leave live completelycomfortably

Good right, so what about to the our quiz question today. Neil, do you know how many cups of coffee are drunk worldwide each year? Is it
(a) 38 billion
(b) 400 billion
(c) 950 billion.

Well, it going to be a huge number, of course. But I still think I will go for the lowest figure which is 38 billion.

Well we will see if we you get got the right answer right at the end of the programme.

Now the price of coffee has soared that is going up quickly in recent years, Robert. Surely that is good for everyone who is involved in the business. I believe the profit margins of the coffee are among the highest in the world. I can't see what will fast it?

Well Neil. Just because the price is high. It doesn't mean everyone benefits. It all depends on how the profits are distributed. You see there is countless transaction between the grow-up and the drink-up. A grow-up can have really good kuorp. But the amount it made stay the same. Oh, can even fall.

I see the problem. I expect most the profit go to the commidity traders and very little to the individual grower of the beans. It sounds like the growers have no control. That is what happen to another agricultural sectors.

I afraid so. of course some people are trying to distribute the profit more widely and they have been having some success.

Yes. I heard about some small scale project where the company takes charge in the whole process, from field to shop.

Yes this organization tend to farm organatically. This is very labor intensive. That means a lot of people are employeed. And it create a lot of job to people within the communty. And this way, they are not victim of the market flucation. Let's listen to XXXXX who runs a small plungation like this in xxxx. What the verb he uses to put in the coffee in the box before selling it.

For our plantation, the approach we have, is to go through every steps we have ever steped in the process. So that we grow, we pick it, we process the male then eventally we will roast and we will package it and we sell it. So a small plantation we are. And that will allos us to stay or be profitable against the debt.

So he uses the word package which means put the product in a packet or box before selling it.

And he said his community can stay profitable. This means they can alwasy maintain profit or make money.

Well it is good to know the small growers can live recently be comfortable despite what the world market to doing. The next time my grab take away coffee I will try to remember all the politics involved in the production process.

Yes, me too. So should we have the answer of the quiz question now? Yes, you asked me how many cups of coffess are drunk world wide each year.
